I am sure you are all equally shocked with the news of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. I could have never imagined that I would be traveling home from Christchurch, where I witnessed devastation, only to now experience the extraordinary dimension of this disaster.
Lions, we respond immediately, alongside our fellow Lions of Japan. Within hours of the disaster, Lions Clubs International Foundation committed over US$1.25 million, or 100 million Japanese Yen, for immediate relief for Japan. This includes a major catastrophe grant, six emergency grants and designated donations from Lions worldwide. We have also established a designated fund for Lions to directly support this disaster.
In support of this effort Cucamonga District Host Lions Club is soliciting donations to be used in their entirety for LCIF for the Japanese quake relief. Donations are welcome from Lions and non-Lions.
